Sweet T Picnics owner Marcie T. Walsh shares the tea about her picnic company, which now offers a private plane picnic experience. 

Ok, so we're having some sweet tea. I'm here with the owner of sweet tea picnic Marcy, cleaning our glasses together is very sweet tea. It's very good. Um Why are we sitting out here in front of a plane having, having a picnic? It's, I mean, it's not a bad idea, but explain to me a little bit about your business. It's all about picnics, right? Yes, it is all about picnics, but we level it up a notch and as you can see it's a luxury picnic. Uh Our motto is, you know, here the tea is sweet, but the memories are sweeter and it's even written on our van if you see it cruising around the triangle. But our picnic experience is they are meant to celebrate all of life's moments big or small. So you can come out with the ones that you love. The ones you cherish and sit down and enjoy this luxury picnic experience that comes with food beverages, everything is all inclusive. We even have games that you can play a little Bluetooth speaker to listen to your favorite music. So it's a really cool experience. So you're a W R L voters' choice Award winner for Best small business. And you have picnics that kind of range, um, down to, you know, you've got the more fancy luxury and then you've got something a little more scaled down. Explain to me some of your picnics. So we have different picnic packages already catered to people who don't know exactly what they're looking for. You can easily go on our website and see all the different packages we have. So we have one that's called the Fantasy Picnic. It's catered more towards younger ones and it comes with flower wings and flower crowns and all the cute little things. Um, and then we have one that's called the Carolina Blues Picnic. Uh, so if you are a Duke Carolina rivalry in your house, uh, it has both sides and we cater to both. Um, and we actually set those up on either Duke's campus or Carolina's campus. So you can take which, you know which side of the fence you want to be on there. Um, we also have the Boho picnic, which is a super popular one right now because that's an aesthetic that a lot of people are going for and it's just, it's very soft and pretty and we have the, the country classic one. So if you wanted a classic picnic, but again, luxury, that's the one I would go with. So you also have one where you sit in front of a plane, kind of like what we're doing. Um, so tell me more about the, was it the plane? Yes. So it's called the plain Old Picnic and plain old picnic. Yeah, it's just a plain old picnic. So you get to sit beside of an aircraft right beside of the runway and you get to watch planes take off and land during your picnic during sunset. So it's a beautiful, beautiful backdrop and it's smaller aircraft so it's not super loud or anything like that. It's smaller airplanes such as the one behind us now. Ok, so tell me about the aircraft behind us. Now it's part of a new picnic offering that you get. Yes. So we have partnered with elite aircraft services right here in the triangle and they have partnered with us to offer what we are calling the, the right way to picnic. And that's W R I G H T like the Wright Brothers. Yes. The right way to picnic where we fly you from Raleigh Exec, Jetport to Kitty Hawk where you get to enjoy the National Park for the Wright Brothers. And then after you're through strolling the park, you get to enjoy a picnic and we fly you home the same day. So you get a private plane, private pilot, a luxury picnic food and beverages. It's really, really a cool experience. That's amazing. And so you fit all of the picnic stuff in the plane. Yes, it goes like under the plane. Yes. So there is a compartment in the back of the plane. This right here is a series S R 22. Um And so we can fit everything in the back of the plane and then our two guests will sit in the back. You have a great view, the windows are huge. Um So you get views of the outer banks and you get a headset so you can talk to each other or you can listen to some music on the, on the flight. Um, you even get a little flight kit with everything in it. So you'll get sunglasses, breath mints, hand sanitizer, everything for your flight. Ok. So that is a very unique, um, very unique. Yes, I was watching The Bachelor and I saw them take off on this cool flight and I said, why can't the average person do that? You know, why can't we do that? So there's no reason why we can't. There's no reason why we can't do the reason why we can't just get up and get on our plane and leave except for the, or do you fly? Are you a pilot? I am not, but my husband is so there is a reason there's nothing holding us back. Now, there's nothing, there's nothing preventing us from doing this. I lost my mind. Um I was so, so, so excited because we've only been in business for a year and a half and I have just been full throttle. I quit my corporate job to start this business. Um So this is my baby and to see that rewarded and to see that, you know, everyone here in the triangle, everyone in North Carolina loves it and supports it as well. It, it meant a great deal to me. Raleigh company offers private plane and picnic package

Two new bills aimed at changing North Carolina's rules for voting, and how elections are administered, are expected to quickly advance in the state Senate after an initial debate Wednesday.

TODAY. 2 NEW BILLS COULD TAKE A BIG STEP FORWARD IN THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY. THAT IS WHERE YOU ARE LOOKING LIVE THIS MORNING AND WRAL'S KEENAN WILLARD IS THERE WITH WHAT WE CAN EXPECT TO HAPPEN NEXT. AND HOW SOON THESE CHANGES COULD BECOME LAW. KING. >> GOOD MORNING. IT WOULD ALSO MAKE IT HARDER TO SAME DAY REGISTRATION. REPUBLICANS SAY THE CHANGES WILL INCREASE ELECTION SECURITY AND INTEGRITY. WELL, OPPONENTS, A STATE ELECTIONS ARE ALREADY VERY SECURE. THE OTHER BILLS AIMED AT THE STATE BOARD OF ELECTIONS THAT WOULD LET LAWMAKERS NOT THE GOVERNOR APPOINTS THE BOARD WOULD HAVE AN EVEN NUMBER OF MEMBERS FOR FROM EACH PARTY. CURRENTLY THE RULES SAY THAT WHOEVER OCCUPIES THE GOVERNOR'S MANSION GETS A 3 C MAJORITY ON THAT PORT. >> PROTESTERS AND DEMOCRATIC LAWMAKERS SPOKE OUT AGAINST THESE BILLS LAST NIGHT CALLING THEM A POWER GRAB THAT WOULD RESTRICT VOTING ACCESS. GOP PROPONENTS SAY THIS IS ABOUT ELECTION SECURITY AND INTEGRITY. NOW BOTH AGAIN GOING TO BE DELIBERATED ON THE FULL SENATE FLOOR THIS MORNING AND COULD MOVE INTO NORTH CAROLINA

New voting restrictions set to advance

House Bill 574 says a student's sex is designated at birth, and that anyone designated male at birth can't play on women's or girls' sports teams in school, even if they transition to female.

Two men were injured in a shooting near a hotel on New Bern Avenue in Raleigh on Thursday morning.

Overnight shooting injures 2 men outside Raleigh hotel

I'm meteorologist, Kat Campbell in the severe weather center. A pretty typical June Day for us. High temperatures in the mid eighties to about 90 degrees. It's a pretty hot day out there and there is a small chance isolated chance of a pop up storm. 85 the high in Roxborough this afternoon. 89 in the triangle, 88 in Rocky Mount, 88 in Lewisburg, 87 in Siler City and in the southern part of our area, 91 Fayetteville, 89 in Smithfield and Goldsboro. 89 in Sanford. 88 degrees in Southern Pines. Pretty much. Anybody could see a pop up storm this afternoon, but that chance is still pretty low at just 30%. So these are going to be your typical summer time. Pop up storms where one neighborhood may see rain and the other may not. It's not going to be a widespread rain event for us. Future cash showing that we're pretty dry through about four. It's after four that we do have that chance an isolated storm popping up. Not too enthusiastic that we'll see a lot of rain out of this event, but there will be some rain and thunderstorms on the radar. Father's Day weekend is looking nice and dry. So if you've got outdoor plans, you're in luck it's going to be hot out there. But at least it's not going to be all that humid. That's certainly some good news for anybody that wants to hang out with dad. Outside 91 is our forecast high. 88 on Saturday. Let's take a closer look at the hourly forecast for Father's Day eight AM upper sixties by noon, 86 by 24. We're in the nineties and still even at dinner time, temperatures should be in the upper eighties on Sunday. It's going to be hot out there. So keep that in mind, make sure you're staying hydrated and also spend some time in the shade. We also have the capital city Juneteenth celebration happening on Saturday. 88 degrees from one through six. You can swing by say hello to to lead sunny and warm. Humidity is not going to be bad this weekend. That's certainly good news. The humidity may climb just a little bit freer Friday, Friday forecast highs in the upper eighties to lower nineties. And we do have a chance for some isolated thunderstorms, future cast, keeping things pretty quiet in the morning as we get into lunch time into the afternoon that we have a better chance for some of these scattered storms this particular in house. We're on a future cast showing that we need to bump up rain chances a little bit for your Friday. Check in for an update this afternoon on w news. We're going to look over some of the new model guidance and really get a better feel and update rain chances accordingly for. Now. It's just more typical summertime storms today and tomorrow, the weekend looking nice and dry for Father's Day as we head into next week, though, a more unsettled pattern setting up and we could see better rain chances next week and that could lead to some very beneficial rain across the area.
