Holly Springs School of Dance crew performs at Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade
Several dancers from a Triangle-area dance school performed for a national audience when they hit the street for a live routine during the annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade Thursday morning.
Posted — UpdatedAccording to a post on Facebook by the Holly Springs School of Dance, it was 20 degrees in New York when the crew from the Raleigh area were told to hit their marks.
"We've got this," according to a post from the dance crew Thursday morning as friends and family of the Holly Springs dancers waited for their time to stroll through the parade line.
Before the parade stepped off at 9 a.m., there were concerns that blustery winds in New York would ground the iconic balloons in the float.
The 21 degrees at the start made it one of the coldest Thanksgivings in the city in decades. Forecasts had predicted sustained winds of up to 20 mph and gusts to 30 mph as the parade was winding through the streets of New York.
There were 600 performers in the Spirit of America Dance Stars crew, which represented school dance teams and dance studios from all over the U.S., including Holly Springs.
The dancers performed their routine to the holiday classic song "Winter Wonderland."
They were the last performers before Saint Nick's float rolled through the annual parade, capping the end of the three-hour broadcast by NBC.
