About a year ago, Kelly Shiley was a bleary-eyed mom, nursing her baby daughter in the middle of the night. Shiley, who has two older kids as well, was tired, worn out and having a hard time.

She knew she needed a little inspiration and encouragement in those tough hours. So she took the advice of her Bible study leader and started jotting down inspirational Bible verses on index cards. She placed them in spots around her Holly Springs home where she'd see them.

They inspired Shiley in a couple of ways. She found encouragement in the verses that became daily parts of her life. And those index cards became the beginnings of a business.

"There's got to be a cuter way to do this," she remembers thinking.

On a run, she figured out a way to turn those drab index cards into wall art. Her Scripture Art Designs sells vinyl peel and stick products that can be placed on smooth, flat surfaces such as walls, mirrors, windows and refrigerators. The reusable and removable pieces feature cute designs and attractive borders and Bible verses. Customers can choose from selected designs and verses or customize their own.

Shiley also has recently added chore charts for kids, wall appliques and calendars. And she has the help of her sister Katie Hamilton. Hamilton is the wife of Major League Baseball player Josh Hamilton, a Raleigh native.

"This has helped me," she tells me, "and I hope it helps other people."
