HOLLY SPRINGS, N.C. — The mayor of Holly Springs is encouraging others to make a plan to be vaccinated for COVID-19 after receiving his first dose.

Mayor Dick Sears received the Moderna vaccine Thursday at a UNC Health vaccination site in Chapel Hill.

In a video posted to social media, Sears praised the vaccination process.

"It was easy. It was well-organized, and I’ll tell you what: I would highly recommend everybody to really think through this process because we’ve got to stop COVID-19. This is one way to do it," Sears said.

City leaders say Sears shared his experience hoping to show others that the vaccine is safe and easy to get.

"If I can do it, you can do it. I’m with you," Sears said.
