HOLLY SPRINGS, N.C. — A Holly Springs man was sentenced to 14 years in prison for child pornography charges.

Wayne Kenneth Dare received his prison sentence on Wednesday along with 10 years of supervised release for receiving child sexual abuse material. The 41-year-old pled guilty to receipt of child pornography.

Department of Justice agents found 1,236 images and 488 videos of child sexual abuse on Dare's digital devices with some content depicting toddlers and what was described as 'sadistic and masochistic conduct.' At least two videos were over an hour long.

Officers and agents arrived at Dare's home to execute a search warrant and Dare confessed to having received the materials. Dare told law enforcement he had been viewing child pornography since 2009.

The arrest came after Cary police detectives conducted a proactive investigation on a peer-to-peer sharing network trying to identify individuals trading and collecting child sexual abuse material.
