Hollister man arrested in shooting

HOLLISTER, N.C. — Halifax County sheriff's deputies arrested a Hollister man Monday as a result of an argument and shooting.

Steven Alexander Williams, 25, faces a charge of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury. He turned himself in at the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office and was given a $20,000 bond.

The victim told deputies that he argued with Williams about the price of his car. Williams allegedly pulled out a shotgun and threatened to blow the victim's head off. As Williams drove away, the victim said, he fired out his window, spraying bird shot.

The victim was hit in the face and arm. He was treated at Halifax Regional Medical Center and released.

According to state Department of Corrections, Williams was convicted of assault inflicting serious injury three times and of simple assault once between 2001 and 2006. He was sentenced to probation for each offense.
