Holiday weekend brings luck to 4 lottery winners

Four lucky tickets sold in North Carolina won big in drawings held over the Fourth of July holiday weekend, including Powerball wins of $1 million and $2 million.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Four lucky tickets sold in North Carolina won big in drawings held over the Fourth of July holiday weekend, including Powerball wins of $1 million and $2 million.

The winners had not yet come forward to claim their prizes Sunday, but they have 180 days to do so, offiicals with the North Carolina Education Lottery said.

Saturday evening's Powerball drawing resulted in two tickets winning seven-figure prizes.

A $2 million ticket was sold at O'Neil's Quick Stop on South Morgan Street in Roxboro. And a $1 million ticket was sold at The Border Station on Caratoke Highway in Moyock.

Each Powerball ticket beat odds of 1 in 5.1 million to match all five white balls drawn. The winning numbers were: 3-6-14-18-24 for the white balls and 21 for the Powerball.

The Carolina Cash 5 jackpot was won in the Fourth of July drawing. That ticket, sold at the 7-Eleven on University City Boulevard in Charlotte, is worth $66,030. The winning numbers for the drawing were 8-14-19-23-31.

On Thursday, a $227,196 jackpot was hit in the Cash 5 drawing. The winning ticket, which beat odds of 1 in 575,757, was sold via Play at the Pump at a gas pump at the Middle River C Store on Old Ocean Highway in Bolivia. The winning numbers were 2-16-19-36-38.
