If you’re looking for a truly traditional, inspired holiday experience this season, you should check out little Washington. We have concerts, parades, historic holiday home tours, family-friendly activities (including Santa), and everything in between.

The Washington Christmas Parade will take place downtown at 10am on December 3rd.

Washington Harbor District Alliance Executive Director Meg Howdy says there will be fun for all ages. “The Harbor District Market will be open for their annual Christmas Market on December 3rd & 4th. The Market will feature unique items from local artisans, and will also offer crafted ornaments that kids can color and take home for their tree.”

Santa will be on hand on December 10th at the Market to see the kiddos and for photographs.

On December 8th, downtown Washington will hold ‘Jingle Mingle.’ The many stores in the harbor district will be open late, with everything from unique gift and jewelry shops to antiques, boutiques, books, apparel, and wine & food gifts. Howdy says that it’s a perfect opportunity to support small businesses. “I can’t stress enough how important this is, especially this year. The great thing here is that we have price points for everybody.  You can buy something for five dollars, or you can buy a large ticket item as a gift.  We have a vast variety of items for everyone.”  So enjoy the decorated storefronts, restaurant specials, sales, gift wrapping, and even prize giveaways.

Starting the first week of December, the boats on the waterfront will be decorated for the holidays for the ‘Harbor Walk of Lights.’ Stroll the parkway and admire the beauty of the season in this delightful port town. Howdy says that voting will open for the best decorated vessel the second week of December. “Voting will be open until December 26th, then we will announce the winners over the next week or so.” Find more details by calling the Washington Harbor District Alliance at 252-947-1487 or go to https://www.facebook.com/WashingtonHarborDistrictAlliance.
Arts of the Pamlico has an impressive lineup of holiday events as well. AOP Finance and Marketing Manager Lexie Buck is excited to start the season with a salute to a musical icon. “We will proudly present ‘A Rocking Elvis Tribute and Christmas Show’ on November 26th at 7:30pm on the Turnage Theatre main stage. It will be family-friendly, and a real treat for Elvis Presley fans.” Tickets and more information at https://tinyurl.com/5n8mfx2z.
AOP will sponsor it’s annual ‘Holiday Homes Tour’ on December 2nd and 3rd. This year’s tour will feature a combination of twelve unduplicated homes and businesses. Friday and Saturday will feature different homes on the tour and both will feature a unique local restaurant experience. Tickets and information available at https://tinyurl.com/3rrz3z36.
Arts of the Pamlico will present NC native and Off-Broadway performer, Kristin Wetherington, in a ‘Home for the Holidays’ concert at the historic Turnage Theatre on December 3rd at 7pm. Tickets are available at https://tinyurl.com/d59bxycv.
On December 8th at 7pm, the Emerald City Big Band will be playing seasonal favorites at the Turnage Theatre. Tickets and more information can be found at https://www.facebook.com/events/3347964865481653.
‘The Polar Express’ will be playing on the screen in the Turnage Theatre at 1:30pm on December 10th. Legendary NC band, The Embers, will perform their annual Christmas concert at the Turnage Theatre at 7:30pm on December 23rd. Buck says this is always a special show. “Embers’ frontman Craig Woolard is from Washington, so it feels like a holiday homecoming performance.”
