Posted — UpdatedRALEIGH, N.C. — Westbound Interstate 40 was shut down near Lake Wheeler Road in Raleigh around 8 p.m. Friday after a hit-and run that injured one person.
According to Raleigh police, a green car hit two other cars, pushing one under the bridge and injuring a female driver. The woman was transported to WakeMed, where she was expected to recover from her injuries.
Raleigh police were looking for a green sedan, possibly a Nissan or Acura, with extensive side damage.
The car under the bridge was pushed on top of a gas line, so as a precaution, authorities kept the highway closed until nearly midnight.
