History museum wants kids dressed as N.C. greats
Any Blackbeards or Ava Gardners in the house? The Celebrate North Carolina History Festival next month includes a costume contest. Kids are encouraged to dress up as a character from North Carolina history.
Posted — UpdatedI thought I'd just share a bit about one part of the big day since I know some of you might still be sorting out plans for Halloween costumes. Here's an opportunity to use a costume beyond Halloween.
The museum will hold a children's costume contest and parade on Nov. 5. They are encouraging kids to come dressed like a character from North Carolina history, such as actress Ava Gardner or Blackbeard, and march in the parade.
Three winners will get a prize. Adults also are encouraged to participate though they won't be able to win anything.
The Celebrate N.C. History Festival will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 5. It will include musicians, storytellers, dance groups, authors, craftspeople and more. It's all free.
