Wendell, N.C. — A Wendell home built in 1912 sustained heavy damage in a fire around midnight Saturday, according to firefighters.
One person was home when the fire at 424 Cook St. broke out but managed to escape unharmed, firefighters said. Damage to the house makes it uninhabitable.
Firefighters said they are still investigating the cause of the blaze, but they do not suspect arson.
