RALEIGH, N.C. — A driver was in custody after he refused to stop for a State Highway Patrol trooper Friday morning in Raleigh, prompting a high-speed chase in which speeds approached 100 miles per hour before it ended on Interstate 440, authorities said.

According to Trooper Lt. Derek Mobley, the pursuit began around 8:30 a.m. on Rock Quarry Road when the driver, whose identity was pending, refused to stop for authorities.

The driver fled from the scene and was clocked at speeds of about 90 miles per hour on I-40, before exiting onto I-440, according to authorities.

The trooper used a PIT maneuver to stop the vehicle, which ended the chase.

Authorities said no one was injured during the pursuit.

It was not immediately clear what charges the driver would face in connection with the incident.
