High Point woman charged with intentionally hitting, killing woman with car
A woman was charged after police said she intentionally struck and killed another woman with her car.
Posted — UpdatedOn Saturday around 2:30 a.m., officers with the High Point Police Department responded to 725 S. Scientific St., where they found Natavia S. Currie, 23, had been struck by a car.
Resuscitation efforts by EMS were unsuccessful, and Currie died at the scene. Police said the driver had already fled the scene by the time officials arrived.
A few hours later, Lavoya M. McClain, 24, of High Point, turned herself in to High Point police, officials said. McClain was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and felony hit and run. She was being held in the High Point jail Tuesday under no bond.
Police said McClain knew Currie and struck her after a verbal argument between the two women escalated.
