RALEIGH, N.C. — Tuesday afternoon's sunshine and warm temperatures are here to stay until Friday before a chance of rain and severe weather returns for the weekend.

Tuesday started chilly but will warm into the low 70s, according to WRAL meteorologist Peta Sheerwood. Wednesday and Thursday will be even warmer, with highs in the upper 70s and low 80s.

Each day of the work week will be clear and beautiful, with plenty of sunshine, before a chance for thunderstorms returns Friday afternoon and evening.

Although Friday will be cloudy and windy, temperatures will be warm, in the 70s and 80s.

Saturday will be breezy and cooler, with a high in the mid 60s. The day should not be a washout, but the Triangle could get more than an inch of rain between Friday and Saturday, Sheerwood said.
