A teenager from Henderson faces charges that he killed his mother, who was shot in her home in June, police said Wednesday.

HENDERSON, N.C. — A teenager from Henderson faces charges that he killed his mother, who was shot in her home in June, police said Wednesday.
The 15-year-old, whose name wasn't released, faces a charge of first-degree murder in the death of Letitia Hammond, 33.
Police said that Hammond's other child found her body in their home around 6:30 p.m. on June 15 and called 911. Authorities haven't disclosed a possible motive in the case.
Police arrested the 15-year-old Tuesday and placed him in the custody of Juvenile Services. He was scheduled to appear in court Friday.
