Henderson police: Felon found with gun, stolen laptop

Henderson police arrested a convicted felon Thursday and found a .380 caliber handgun and stolen laptop computer in his vehicle, according to a police department news release.

HENDERSON, N.C. — Henderson police arrested a convicted felon Thursday and found a .380 caliber handgun and stolen laptop computer in his vehicle, according to a police department news release.

Dante Montrell Champion, of 683 Vance St., was held on a $5,500 secured bond for the larceny charge and a $5,000 bond for the felony firearm possession charge.

Police received a report of a stolen laptop from the Aycock Recreation Center at 307 Cary Chapel Road on Thursday. While on patrol, officers saw a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle. 

Officers found a laptop on the floor of the vehicle, which was identified as the laptop taken from the Aycock Recreation Center. Officers also seized a gun.
