— Police say a Henderson man stole an $80,000 Caterpillar backhoe from the S.T. Wooten Construction company on Saturday.

Christopher Neil Clopton, 43, of 1281 Cheatham Mabry Road, was arrested and charged with one count of felony larceny.

Clopton was being held Sunday at the Wake County jail under a $50,000 bond. His first court appearance was set for Monday.

According to state Department of Correction records, Clopton and two other people were arrested for a construction theft ring in Vance County in August 2006.

The stolen windows, doors and siding in that incident were valued at more than $200,000.
