RALEIGH, N.C. — Summer camps across the Triangle are making adjustments because of the heat.

On any given day the City of Raleigh can have 19,000 kids outside participating in camps.

Summer camp leaders at the Raleigh Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department said many outdoor activities will be moved inside.

The time spent outside will be during those slightly cooler periods, and time spent in the sun will be shortened.

Kids will also see more water breaks and time in the pool.

In most cases, city leaders said, camps won’t be canceled because of the heat. They could be moved to a park with more shade, though.

Camp counselors will start making adjustments based on what they see in 10-day forecast.
