sure. Okay, so, Jeff Outlaw Outlaw, Come on, that's, I mean, I mean, you can't ask for a better name to be talking to about a Nashville songwriter event. I used to, I used to um I used to go out to dinner and uh it's William Outlaw, William J so I would pay with a card, of course, a waiter in Nashville, that's trying to make it in the business is pretty regular, so they're like, oh man, you're committed to the cause, you've you've changed your name to billy Outlaw. I'm like, actually it's it's the real names. I I would show myself showing driver's license all the time. Yes, it's a good conversation, good conversation piece. So whatever, whatever sells tickets and raises money for the kids, I guess. So, so, tell me about the event coming up over at Durham Performing Arts Center. Yes, so, we're so thrilled to be at the Deepak again, of course, last year, like a lot of shows, we had to take some time off, but we're back, and we're trending towards another sold out show. So, this will be our fourth year, the Deepak, But our 20th show overall, and this show actually started just trying to uh instead of making a donation to a school, I just had some some friends come over from Nashville and perform. It started in the classroom at elementary school, than a gym, then a cafeteria and janitorial, and we kind of built our way up, this will be the 20th show. We've been doing this, and well, actually, it's just writers that come over, it's just music, music, doing music. Doing good for music and the central theme for all these charities that we do. It's just the proceeds from this um are done by folks that collaborate that are creative, their music folks, and they're trying to pass that on. So, whether it's the Inter city Orchestra, piece of kids notes or whether it's the course program, you know, arts arts funding always gets the first thing to go into school. Um you know, or if it's uh, you know, the North kind of boys academy for troubled young men that use music as a big part of what they do and recovery and rehab. So, yeah, it's um it's just it's just it's been it's always been about that music helping music. And uh the the bills keep getting bigger and bigger as far as the the bills of of the um folks that are performing there. Yes. So we're actually getting a lot of artists now, a lot of songwriters. So this will be the 20th time we've done it. It keeps getting bigger. This will be our biggest show yet. And we'll actually, we're we're thrilled that uh well, actually pass a half a million dollars uh total distributed this year. So 20th year and we'll pass a half million dollars given to these uh these folks over the years. So just just a small way of giving back to, you know, to to where I spent so much time here and and call my home. So, so tell me more about the lineup and what people can expect at the actual show. Sure, So the cool thing is, is everyone everyone is gonna see on stage, we all are friends, we're all collaborators, we've been doing this, you know, we we've cried and cried, the family funerals together, we've been to, my daughter just got married and some of them were uh at that wedding. So it's it's it's I think you'll pick up on that, but it's just you'll hear these the most highly decorated songwriters in Nashville that are behind the scenes. Um uh and they've become famous just by being such a great songwriter so that they're not the person you hear on the radio, but they've written these songs and in Nashville uh just relies on writers and co writers and collaborators so much more than other genres. So typically who you hear on the radio is a lot, a lot of times, not always, but it is the person that hasn't written that song, they've heard it, it's been written by someone else who go in these rooms and collaborate. So you're gonna hear the behind the scenes stories, you're gonna hear these things performed. Um and they're probably gonna sound a little bit different, but you just get to hear how, how the thing was crafted, you get to hear stories about how it got cut, You get to hear stories like one of my favorite is you live like you were dying, I mean one of the biggest songs ever, Tim Nicholls who's been to every one of these shows that we've had phenomenal, phenomenal guy. He's his story about how the song almost did not make it to tim McGraw and you start to think about like if that song, it never happened, you know, I can't imagine any other artist making that song what it was. So it's all those stories there, but it's also unscripted, it's also the collaborations, it's also the funny back and forth because we all know each other. So you just got great uh great folks. And this year we actually just just added a week ago, we just added Lainey Wilson who's probably the hottest female artist that's out there in any genre right now and she's an amazing person. Um, so she's gonna be joining us, you know, so that's added a little bit more uh notoriety and star power, but you know, but yeah, we'll have people that come come every like, like jesse alexander, she comes in most years and she's become a big, a big, a big hit. Their win Barbell who's, who does a lot of storytelling. He also does a lot of funny songs too, but he also has written some of the most serious songs too. So I mean the lineup is just hit after hit after hit and these folks, uh they just play well, they sing, well, they, you know, it's just the stories behind the scenes, it's, it's a, it's a little hard to describe unless unless you come to the show, I've told someone to do this 20 times here, I do a really poor job of describing what it is, you have to come, but when the, when the people come, they typically bring like two or three people with them because they're like, I can't explain it either, but you need to come see this. So I think it's just the behind the scenes of camaraderie, all that just kind of comes um just kind of kind of kind of comes out and, you know, 2.5, 3 hours passes by in a heartbeat, you know, we blink and it's gone. So, to tell me about some, just give me some examples of maybe some songs we might hear a story, I just mentioned tim Nichols, you know, the show will probably close with, looked like you were dying, you know, Jesse, alexander, you know, she's written, she wrote the climb for molly Cyrus and what's really interesting is she wrote the climb from molly Cyrus, Jesse has also been mentoring lainey Wilson while Laney is in town Laney to pay the bills. She used to be a Hannah Montana impersonator and sing in costume the climb and jesse is the co writer on the new hit single, that Lenny has a duet with cole Swindell. So, so, so that's coming full circle, So seeing those two ladies on stage together and that relationship they have is gonna be great, but you'll you'll probably hear the climb um oh my goodness, I drive your truck, which is a huge, huge lee brice, you know, Jimmy Yeary and those guys, you hear jimmy jimmy Yeary do everything's gonna be all right, and then you'll hear there's probably been about 11 or 12 number one songs since we've had the show for this group up here. So Derek or Tan who's an amazing friend, great Canadian artists, he had a big hit song by Maddie and Tae called Die from a Broken Heart, you know, so I always like to hear these guys that have written songs for females because you know, it's just just simply, it would be difficult to do sometimes. So you'll hear those types of things and then Brett Tyler who's only been to the show one time before, he's had a huge breakout year with number ones for luke luke combs and he also has the new Toby keith single. So to be able to see a guy like that, that's come before and played a bunch of songs and now he's coming and playing a bunch of hits. So that's just a that's just a little bit and then the Warren brothers are a hit machine Warner brothers brad and Brett, they've they've written Red Solo cup and felt good on my lips and we backed by Jason Aldean Lights come on by Jason Aldean, It's just on and on and on and on and on. So it's gonna be amazing. You also are a writer. So who have you worked before with a lot of people? I have, yeah, I've been really fortunate, you know, so it's so I'm a lyrical writer, so of course my buddies come to accompany me. I'm not a performance, the only show that I do because it's my hometown. Um, it's fun to collaborate. But yeah, I've actually, I've actually done really well. There's a, there's a gentleman in Troy Cartwright who, his new single, Breaking Every Heart in texas. That's that, that radio right now, we're very fortunate enough to have written that with Brett and uh, and When Barbara, that'll be here. So, you know, I've been fortunate to have songs cut by Phil Vassar and kip moore and a couple other artists. So for me, um, you know, we do this for the charity, but it's so great to be able to let that side of me show a little bit too because it's, it's something that a lot of folks don't, don't know a whole lot about. So, also the show is coming up. So what is the date for the show, tickets are still available. Yes. So I guess it's, it's Deepak NC dot com. The tickets are available. The show is going to be at 7 30 on friday february 11th, obviously the Deepak. So, uh, and I'm assuming with all the, all the new protocol, you know, there, they're opening doors an hour early. So I guess folks will get their to start showing, you know, all there, all their stuff from a safety standpoint. So yeah, we're excited. I mean it's a, it's a week from friday. We're uh, it's, it's, it's got here pretty quickly. I gotta, I gotta be honest with you. There's a lot of stuff that the Deepak needs for me right now and I'm like, I'll get it, I'll get it, I'll get it. And then january flew by and I'm like, wait a minute. This is, this is happening in just over a week. So yeah, we have a lot to do before next friday night. Where, what are the charities that you're working with this time around. Yeah. So kids, kids notes, which is here based on the triangle. Uh, you know, they provide instruments and instruction and for kind of underserved communities in the Raleigh Durham Chapel Hill area. Um, phenomenal organizations loved them so much. And then north Carolina Boys Academy. Um, and then the Voyager Academy, which is where all three of our kids went their arts program and pretty much the proceeds. They're, I mean they're, they're traveling chorus actually won the state choir show choir championship a couple of years ago and I have people that come up to me and once again, I don't, all I do is just put the show on. It's a labor of love. Like people that buy tickets to come see the show are the ones that are really, you know, funding these proceeds, but I get stopped in the store all the time, people saying, hey, my kid couldn't have gone to, you know, show choir competition in Virginia if it hadn't been for what you guys did. So you just see those things like that, You also see people from kids Notes, like there's some pretty impressive philharmonic orchestras that were, these kids have come out of kids notes and are playing now, so it's just, it's amazing to see that. But those are the three biggest Nordcloud Boys Academy Kids Notes and Voyager Academy Friends of the Arts, which is actually here in Durham. So, so here's some great stories, here's some great music and support local arts. That's right. It is. And, and, and I mean, it's funny how a lot of people, I think half folks, you'll run into them, they don't really make the connection that it's a, it's, it's a show for charity that they just come for the actual show and it's, you know, we're very proud. It's been one of the highest rated shows that Deepak, you know, for the, for every year we've done it and how can it not be? I mean taking the this show went to the next level. You know, I would say probably 60% of the funds I was talking about earlier have been raised in the last four years because deepak just saw something in this. They saw something in the charities, they thought we were incremental to what their usual uh, entertainment was and they've gotten behind this and without them, we couldn't have done any of this. So it's just, you know, it just keeps growing every year and we're just, we're very humbled and honored to be a part of it and, and we have a blast putting it on. It's a labor of love for me and um, I get thanked all the time, but I shouldn't. These, these folks are coming from Nashville year after year, especially Tim Nichols 20th year doing this, hasn't missed a show. Um those are the folks that are really making it happen and then the people that buy tickets and come and see it. So it does help. It's a good show, but um, so much support from from the folks putting it onto the, to the ones coming to the show. I'm meteorologist, Amy Wilma in the WRL severe weather center, we had a dry warm day today, but a cold front is off to the west of us and it arrives tomorrow and brings the potential for some scattered showers and some thunderstorms. It's a pretty potent system today with a level three out of five risk for part of the Midwest. But the severe weather will be moving eastward as this cold front moves eastward as well. And we'll have the risk for severe storms tomorrow. Although the storm energy will not be as high tomorrow as it is today. There's a lot of storm energy west of us today and that's why they have that higher risk for severe storms. But as this system moves closer to North Carolina, it does weaken. We could still have some isolated severe storms but we have weak to moderate energy. We don't have the strong energy that they have west of us today. So it's a level one risk for most of us Friday. This is in the afternoon and evening. So isolated severe storms possible. The biggest threat will be some damaging winds and a potential for some hail as Well, the first half of the day is dry, so no rain worries for the morning commute. But by the time we get to the afternoon and evening, that's when we'll have scattered showers and storms and any of the storms that do form could become severe. And our highest rain chances are right during the evening commute. So about a 40% chance for rain tomorrow as we move ahead to Saturday, only a slim chance for a shower, a 20% chance for rain. But then a decent chance for rain on Sunday, we don't expect storms, but mainly the second half of our Sunday will have some scattered showers and it will be a cooler day. Here's a look at the rain over the weekend again, just a slim chance for rain on Saturday. Otherwise partly to mostly cloudy skies with temperatures in the low to mid seventies. Sunday morning looks mainly dry with a little bit of rain over some of our southern counties. But then as we head toward the afternoon, a better chance for rain, especially south and east of the triangle. And then during the evening is when some of that rain lifts to the north and includes a good part of the viewing area on Sunday. So the second half of the day certainly looks like the wettest part of the day, still warm Friday with a high of 84. And then we're down into the mid seventies Saturday, high temperatures will be in the low to mid sixties for Sunday and Monday with some chilly mornings, Monday morning and Tuesday morning. Down into the forties, we warm back up next week though. 74 on Tuesday, 78 Wednesday and near 70 for a high temperature on Thursday.
