RALEIGH, N.C. — The Wake County health department released its report Thursday in the investigation after a Raleigh woman posted photos of chicken being transported in a vehicle with a dog next to it.
The woman, who did not wish to be identified, said she saw the dog licking the boxes of food. She was in the drive-thru at the Popeyes on New Bern Avenue in Raleigh. In addition to the dog, her pictures showed the food was transported in a Jeep.

The manager said they were running out of items and this was an emergency delivery from another store. WRAL's 5 On Your Side spoke with the health department, which flagged several concerns. Inspectors were at the restaurant Wednesday to follow up on the complaint.

Their report, released Thursday, detailed how they discussed the concerns and violations with the Popeyes manager and discussed accepted procedures for emergency food transport. That includes, obviously, no pets near the food but also having the food in containers to protect from contamination and from any fluctuations in temperature.

We looked at that location's previous inspections. It's a history of scores in the 90s. The most recent, from last month, was 96.
