'He's bleeding bad': 911 callers describe chaos of February shooting near Hillside High School

The shooting happened on Feb. 8 on the American Tobacco Trail. It left one teen boy dead and another injured.

DURHAM, N.C. — Durham police released 911 calls Thursday of the shooting last month near Hillside High School that left a student dead and hospitalized another.
The shooting happened on Feb. 8 on the American Tobacco Trail on Riddle Road near Fayetteville Street. Anthony Arizona Delorie Feaster, 17, died as a result of the shooting and another teen boy was injured.

“At first, it was like, two gunshots and then it was like multiple … on and off … it was like a ton,” a 911 caller said.

The caller reported hearing at least 10 gunshots.

“I didn’t see the weapon description,” the caller said. “We just heard it, and then, they put it in their jacket.”

Several callers explained the clothing worn by the shooters. The callers said one of the shooters was wearing all black clothing. Another caller said another shooter was wearing a blue shirt and blue jeans.

One of the callers was with a gunshot victims as he spoke with the 911 dispatcher.

“He’s bleeding bad,” the caller said.

A different 911 caller reported getting shot at during the incident.

“They [were] shooting at us,” the caller. “There’s a group of them, ma’am, walking back on there on that trail.”
