Portion of Capital Boulevard reopens after cleaning fluid spill

WAKE FOREST, N.C. — A portion of Capital Boulevard is shut down in Wake Forest as authorities respond to a hazmat incident.

Authorities said southbound lanes of Capital Boulevard remains between Purnell Road and St. Catherine’s Drive after a tractor-trailer began leaking an cleaning fluid at about 7:30 p.m.

Northbound lanes of the road reopened at about 10:45 p.m.

Authorities did not say what prompted the leak but said the hazmat situation is contained.

No injuries or evacuations have been reported.

Authorities did not say when the road may reopen.
