DURHAM, N.C. — A Haw River man was killed Thursday morning in a crash on northbound N.C. Highway 147, Durham police said.

A 2014 Chevrolet Equinox SUV driven by Jeremy Holsclaw, 34, went off the highway near the Briggs Avenue exit at about 9:30 a.m. and crashed into the back of an unoccupied flatbed transfer truck, police said.

The transfer truck was parked out of the travel lanes.

Holsclaw was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to a preliminary investigation, it does not appear that speed or impairment were factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
