Have a blast at Guy Fawkes Night
The Oxford is hosting its third annual Guy Fawkes Night this Saturday: celebrate like our friends across the pond by commemorating Guy Fawkes' failed attempt to blow up the House of Lords.
Posted — UpdatedThe name Guy Fawkes might not be so well-known in America, but that doesn't mean we can't join the fun. The English typically celebrate the failure of the Gunpowder Plot, Fawkes' attempt to blow up the British Parliament, in early November with bonfires and fireworks.
VIP tickets are available, which grant you access to the VIP tent with free beer, wine and food, a goodie bag and spots near the stage. These tickets can be purchased online and are $50.
The Oxford is also partnering up with Raleigh City Farm for the event. Guy Fawkes masks and sparklers will be on sale all night, and the proceeds go to the farm to support their urban agriculture efforts.
The 300 block of Fayetteville Street will close at 5 p.m. Saturday night, and the music starts at 6 p.m.
