RALEIGH, N.C. — Harris Teeter wants to take over the space left empty by a former Kmart off Western Boulevard at Blue Ridge Road.

According to Raleigh's city planning website, Harris Teeter filed plans to tear down the former Kmart building, which survived several rounds of store closures before ultimately shutting its doors in 2018.

The last Kmart to close in the Triangle was a location on Blue Ridge Road in December 2019, months before the COVID-19 pandemic began.
