DUNN, N.C. — A Harnett County man is facing involuntary manslaughter charges in the 2019 death of a woman.

Brandon Shaw, 30, of Mars Drive in Dunn, was taken into custody by deputies with the Harnett County Sheriff's Office on Friday and charged with involuntary manslaughter. He is in the Harnett County Detention Center under a $100,000 secured bond, Sheriff Wayne Coats said.

Deputies responded on May 23, 2019 to a call from an employee of the Relax Inn at 2937 Bud Hawkins Road in Dunn in reference to an unresponsive female subject lying on the floor in a room. Dakota Strickland, 22, was declared dead. The investigation revealed that shortly before Strickland’s death, she was provided with illegal drugs by Shaw.

After multiple consultations with the District Attorney’s Office, Harnett County Sheriff’s Office Investigators secured warrants for Shaw’s arrest.
