Authorities in Harnett County were searching early Friday for a missing 14-year-old girl who is cognitively impaired.

ANGIER, N.C. — Authorities in Harnett County were searching early Friday for a missing 14-year-old girl who is cognitively impaired.

The North Carolina Center for Missing Persons issued a Silver Alert for Ariel Lynn Reid at about 1:45 a.m. Friday after she went missing from the 300 block of South Raleigh Street in Angier.

Reid is 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighs about 140 pounds. She has short red hair and blue eyes, authorities said.

When she disappeared, Reid was wearing a black and red hooded sweatshirt, white tank top, gray sweat pants and black and green Converse tennis shoes.

It's unclear where Reid may be headed.
