Hang out with Go Ask Mom at Alamo Drafthouse's 'Nutcracker' family party

As I mentioned in my weekend roundup, I'm really excited for the chance to gear up for the holidays at Alamo Drafthouse's family party on Saturday to mark the opening of Disney's holiday movie, "The Nutcracker and The Four Realms."

As I mentioned in my weekend activities roundup, I'm really excited for the chance to gear up for the holidays at Alamo Drafthouse's family party on Saturday to mark the opening of Disney's holiday movie, "The Nutcracker and The Four Realms."

The PG-rated movie, which comes out Friday, stars Mackenzie Foy, Helen Mirren, Keira Knightly and superstar ballerina Misty Copeland. The trailers have intrigued my girls and I since we saw them this summer.

Here's a synopsis of the movie from Alamo's site: "Packed with lavish sets, ornate costumes, and supremely quiffed hairstyling, 'The Nutcracker and the Four Realms' brings spectacle of a different kind. Inspired by Tchaikovsky's unforgettable music, it's a wintertime treat for the whole family, a freewheeling trip through a story that's classic and yet brand-new."

Here are the details on Saturday's event:

Get there early, around 11:15 a.m., Saturday, for activities. I'll be there with some crafts and a Christmas-themed game.

The movie begins at 12:15 p.m. Your ticket includes the activities and the film. Alamo Raleigh will also be launching the start of their toy drive, so bring a new toy to donate. All toys collected will be donated to the Salvation Army’s Christmas toy shop. Tickets are $12.87.

Alamo Drafthouse opened in Raleigh earlier this year at 2116-D New Bern Ave. More information and tickets are available on Alamo's website.
