Halifax traffic stop yields guns, drugs

Halifax, N.C. — Halifax deputies arrested Joseph Alston, 54, of Littleton, for drug, alcohol and gun offenses. The date of the arrest was not released.
During a traffic stop near Scoco Park, deputies smelled alcohol on Alston. A search of his vehicle yielded a shotgun, a handgun and marijuana.
Alston was charged with DWI, possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a concealed handgun and possession of marijuana.
He was placed under $500 bond.
