Halifax man charged with attempted murder
Halifax County deputies arrested a Scotland Neck man who they say shot at and tried to kill a woman Thursday.

SCOTLAND NECK, N.C. — Halifax County deputies arrested a Scotland Neck man who they say shot at and tried to kill a woman Thursday.
Investigators said that Steven Drew, 38, fired a .22-caliber rifle at the woman at a residence along U.S. 258, north of Scotland Neck, but missed her.
Deputies said they also found marijuana growing in pots at the home.
Drew was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, simple assault and manufacturing marijuana.
He was placed in the Halifax County jail without a bond. His first court appearance was set for May 4.
