Halifax County sheriff's officials are searching for an "armed and dangerous" man who is accused of shooting a person in the torso Tuesday.

HALIFAX, N.C. — Halifax County sheriff's officials are searching for an "armed and dangerous" man who is accused of shooting a person in the torso Tuesday.

Michael Terrance Moore is accused of shooting Aaron Lee Garner in an Allen Grove home, deputies said. Moore was trying to rob the man, authorities said.

Moore is 6 feet tall, has a slim build and has short twists in his hair. He was last seen wearing a gray jogging suit with a red stripe down the side. He was last seen driving a blue 1993 Chevy blazer with registration plate number YXF-2747.

He is wanted on the following charges: attempted first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, two counts of assault by pointing a gun, first-degree burglary and attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon.
