Ten acts performed Tuesday night for their chance to win NBC's "America's Got Talent." A first place prize brings $1 million and a show in Las Vegas.

Halifax County's Brooke Simpson gave it her all.

Simpson's parents said she won the hearts of millions of people across the country, and it's no surprise it landed her in the finals.

"I truly believe she was born to do what she's doing, and in the process, she's going to change the world along the way," said Jimille Mills.

Simpson, who is from Hollister, is passionate about music, people and her culture. She's 100% Native American and a part of the Haliwa-Saponi tribe.

Before hitting the big stage, Simpson started singing in church with her parents at 2 years old.

The Millses said they were told it was very possible that they would not be able to have children. But Simpson proved everyone wrong.

"I don’t believe that’s the last miracle we will experience with Brooke," said Mike Mills. "I’m hoping for another miracle tonight, and I believe she’ll bring a miracle back to the good state of North Carolina."

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, Simpson's parents were not allowed to attend the performance in Los Angeles, but they were watching from home.

The Millses said they were sending all the love and support her way.

"She says specifically, pray for my voice to be strong as ever and for stamina and for the favor of the people to win the votes," said Jimille Mills.

"Brooke, we are so, so, so proud of you. You've already won in our hearts and in the hearts of so many people," she added.

Simpson placed third in NBC's "The Voice" in 2017 while on Team Miley Cyrus.

All contestants performed Tuesday night. Voting started at 8 p.m. on Tuesday and will continue until Wednesday at 7 a.m. Results will be announced on Wednesday's show.
