HOLLISTER, N.C. — Brooke Simpson, singer and songwriter from Hollister, North Carolina, blew the judges away on Tuesday night's America's Got Talent semifinals.

Simpson, 30, is a talented musician passionate about music, people and her culture. She's 100% Native American and a part of the Haliwa-Saponi tribe.

On Tuesday night she performed a rendition of Ed Sheeran's newest hit single, "Bad Habits," impressing even the most stubborn judges.

Judge Simon Cowell told Simpson she was an "amazing singer, amazing person and you really, really deserve to be here next week."

The public is voting on which contestants will make it to the America's Got Talent finals. Simpson is up against 11 other acts. Only five of them will make it to next week's finals.

Judge Howie Mandel said to Simpson, "Indigenous people owned America and I think with this performance, you took it back."

The town of Hollister threw their support behind Simpson, holding watch parties to cheer her on. Simpson took her fans on a fun-filled ride in 2017, when she starred on Season 13 of The Voice, placing third. Simpson later performed at First Night Raleigh to kick off 2018.

Simpson placed third in The Voice in 2017 while on Team Miley Cyrus.

"I'm just taking the journey one step at a time and just excited to see how far I can go," she said.

Simpson plans to make a Broadway debut in the revival of the musical 1776.
