Gunshot victim involved in single-car accident in Raleigh

Raleigh Emergency Services are responding to a single-car accident on Sunnybrook Road and Woodmeadow Parkway in Raleigh after the car was attempting to transport a gunshot victim to the hospital.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh Emergency Services responded to a single-car accident on Sunnybrook Road and Woodmeadow Parkway in Raleigh on Sunday after a car attempting to transport a gunshot victim to the hospital overturned.

Raleigh Police said the victim, identified as Maurice Rashaad Nicholson, 24, was shot at Tuckland Drive near the intersection with Riverbrooke Drive just after 5 p.m. and was being taken to WakeMed when the vehicle carrying multiple people flipped.

Medical staff on scene said there were five people in the car and one of the passengers had been shot in the chest. Raleigh police identified that passenger as Michael Javon Bryant, 24. His injuries were not life-threatening.

Raleigh police have obtained a warrant charging Nicholson with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury in connection with the shooting of Bryant. Police said the warrant will be served when Nicholson is released from the hospital.

A third person, Ravon Devonte Harrington, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury in connection with the shooting of Nicholson. He was detained at the crash scene and later taken to the Wake County Detention Center.
