Gunman shoots Raleigh pizza parlor employee

Raleigh police say an armed man went into a pizza parlor around 3:20 a.m. Thursday and shot one of the employees in the arm during a robbery attempt.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police say an armed man went into a pizza parlor around 3:20 a.m. Thursday and shot one of the employees in the arm during a robbery attempt.

Tang Zhu was mopping the floor at PizzAmerica, 2810 Hillsborough St., when a man wearing black pants, a green shirt and dark hat came into the store with a gun and demanded money.

The gunman shot Zhu in the arm, police said. Emergency crews took him to WakeMed. He was expected to survive.

The gunman fled out the back door of the restaurant. Two other employees in the back of the restaurant were not hurt.

Police were looking for the gunman. They did not release a description of the man.

Investigators said they did not believe the man got any money.
