Shots were fired early Tuesday near Fayetteville State University, school officials said, leading to the university to warn students to stay inside.


<b>FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.</b> — Shots were fired early Tuesday near the campus of Fayetteville State University, prompting the university to warn students to seek shelter.

Campus police responded to reports of a shooting at Langdon Street, near McLeod Hall, at 12:43 a.m., school officials said. Officers found two 9 mm shell casings near the corner of Seabrook Road and Langdon Street.

An email alert sent to students warned them to seek shelter and stay indoors.

An all-clear message was sent just before 2 a.m.

Fayetteville police were investigating the incident.
