FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Suspicious activity lead to the discovery of a gun at a Fayetteville school.

Wanda McPhaul, public information officer for the Cumberland County School System, said the gun was found Friday at E. E. Smith High School.

The assistant principal called the school resource officer after he saw two students acting suspiciously in the cafeteria. During a search of the students’ book-bags, the gun was discovered.

It is not known to the public whether the gun was loaded.

The sheriff's department is not releasing the names of the students involved.
