It's almost Labor Day and that means there are lots of deals on grilling and picnic items including chicken, hot dogs, condiments, buns, soda and more!

It's almost Labor Day and that means there are lots of deals on grilling and picnic items including chicken, hot dogs, condiments, buns, soda and more!

The big battle seems to be for the lowest price on chicken breasts, this week. Here are the contenders:

Food Lion enters the ring with Holly Farms chicken breasts on sale for $1.97/lb

Food Lion also sends in some Holly Farms chicken breast tenders for $2.17/lb

Just to be sure we got the message, Food Lion is also entering the frozen chicken breast in a 2.5 lb bag on sale BOGO

But wait – is that Walmart throwing the knock out punch? Yes, yes it is. This week’s chicken breast win goes to Walmart at $1.78 per pound!

If you are really looking for even more frugal chicken, Kroger has some good deals as well:

Lowes Coupon Policy Basics:

Doubles coupons .99 or less everyday

Doubles up to 20 coupons per day

Doubles up to 4 identical coupons (must have required product to go with each coupon)

BOGO sales ring up at half price. If you just buy one, it still rings up at half price and you can still use a coupon on it! I love that policy!

Harris Teeter Coupon Policy Basics:

Doubles coupons .99 or less everyday

BOGO sales ring up at half price. If you just buy one, it still rings up at half price. The policy states that you can only use ONE coupon on a BOGO deal. So, if you buy 2 items that are BOGO, you can only use one coupon total.

Food Lion Coupon Basics

Food Lion does not double coupons

They have no limits on number of coupons they will take, unless specified in the ad

BOGO items ring up at half price so if you only buy 1, it rings at half price. You can use a coupon on each BOGO sale item.

This week Food Lion has a number of different promotions that allow you to earn something when you buy the right products. There is a cleaning one that earns you $5 off at the register when you $20 worth of products. The details are below in the Non-Food section. Here are two more promos:

Buy any 5 participating brands and receive $4.00 off of Pork Spare Ribs. The participating items include Coke 2 ltrs for .99, Dixie napkins BOGO, KC Masterpiece $2.50, Betty Crocker suddenly salad $1, Betty crocker muffin or brownie mix $2.00. Basically, if you are Coke drinker and buy the stuff anyway, it’s a good week to get 5 2 ltrs on sale for .99 each and then get 2 lbs pork spare ribs for free (they are on sale for $1.99/lb this week).

Buy any 5 participating General Mills Box Tops for Education products from 9/1 though 9/7 and get 20 bonus box tops (a $2 value). Check out www.bettycrocker.com for printable coupons for many of these items listed in the ad.

Here’s another one: Between September 1 and September 29, get $1 back on every 4 Healthy Accents or Home 360 items purchased. Save up to $10 on your next shopping trip. It would be helpful if the coupon kiosk spit out some Home 360 or Healthy Accents coupons this week to go with the promo.
