Greenville police charge man in shooting

GREENVILLE, N.C. — Greenville police charged a man already in custody in a shooting that took place Friday in the 500 block of Roosevelt Avenue.

Dontae Lamonte Brown, 24, of 106 E. 2nd St. in Robersonville, was being held at the Bertie Martin Regional Detention Center on an unrelated murder charge. Police charged him Wednesday with assault with a deadly weapon and attempted murder.

According to police, someone fired a gun into a car at about 2:45 a.m. Friday, injuring a man inside. The victims told police that two people approached their car and one of them fired the shot.

Police said they did not anticipate charging anyone else in the crime.
