Greenville mom charged with abuse after child's fingernails, toenails removed
A Greenville mother faces an abuse charge after her child was found with serious injuries, including the loss of multiple fingernails and toenails, authorities said Wednesday.
Posted — UpdatedNikki Manning, 30, was arrested Tuesday on a charge of felony child abuse inflicting serious physical injury. She was released on a $75,000 bond.
The Pitt County Sheriff’s Office began investigating the case on Oct. 5 after the child was taken to the Children’s Emergency Department at Vidant Medical Center. Hospital staff alerted the Pitt County Department of Social Services about the child's injuries and also noted the child tested positive for narcotics, authorities said.
