A Greensboro police officer was shot while conducting his routine patrol on Friday evening.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — A Greensboro police officer was shot while conducting his routine patrol on Friday evening.
WFMY reports that two officers parked behind John's Curb Market at 2000 E. Market St. at 5:30 p.m. They saw a man behind the store and talked to him briefly.

A struggle ensued, and the man pulled out a gun and shot one officer. The police returned fire but did not know if they hit the man.

The shooter escaped on foot. He was last seen running toward English Street.

The officer was taken to Moses Cone Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
