Man arrested in Raleigh after his grandfather, cousin killed in Greene County
The Greene County Sheriff's office continues to investigate a shooting where one person was killed and another injured.
Posted — UpdatedMyles Duggins, 20, was taken into custody Tuesday night during a traffic stop on the off-ramp of Interstate 40 and Rock Quarry Road, authorities said. He was found in a stolen 2017 Chevrolet Impala.
After his arrest, Duggins was returned to Greene County, where he was being held without bond at the Green County Detention Center, authorities said.
Duggins has been charged with two counts of murder and larceny of a motor vehicle, according to reports.
The Green County Sheriff's Office said Duggins shot his grandfather, identified as Johnny Boy Jefferson, 68, and his young cousin, identified as Isaiah Hill. The elder man died at the scene, and the boy was rushed for medical treatment to Vidant Medical Center, where he died during surgery, authorities said.
Duggins fled from the scene and was located in Raleigh, using the car's OnStar service, which allows communications with the vehicle via satelite.
The suspect was expected to have a first appearance in a Greene County courtroom on Friday.
