OXFORD, N.C. — An Oxford man has been charged with molesting two girls, and his wife faces a charge of allowing the alleged abuse to occur.

Marcello Lara, 38, of 2575 Smith Road, is charged with two counts of indecent liberties with a child. He was being held Wednesday in the Granville County jail under a $100,000 bond.

Maria Lara, 26, of the same address, is charged with one count of indecent liberties with a child. She was being held under a $50,000 bond.

State Bureau of Investigation agents seized three computers, an external hard drive, two webcams, DVDs and videotapes from the Laras' home in May, according to a search warrant.

In an affidavit for the warrant, an SBI agent said two girls said Marcello Lara had performed sex acts on them several times between late 2004 and last December. Marie Lara witnessed one of the incidents, according to the girls.

Some of the incidents occurred when the Laras lived in Hillsborough, the girls told investigators.

Explicit photos were found on a computer that Marcello Lara had left with a relative that had been turned over to investigators, according to the affidavit.
