WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, N.C. — An injured sea turtle was safe Monday thanks to a little help from a Good Samaritan and the U.S. Coast Guard.

Authorities said a man on a fishing boat rescued a turtle with a hook in its mouth and an injured fin about a mile off Wrightsville Beach.

The fisherman contacted the Coast Guard, who send a rescue boat with a representative from the North Carolina Wildlife Resource Commission on board.

The Wildlife Resource Commission took the turtle, which was taken to the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center in Surf City.
