Expect sunshine and a warm afternoon on Sunday, according to WRAL meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner, because this chilly rain is on its way out of the Triangle.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Sunshine and spring-like temperatures greeted the Triangle on Sunday afternoon after days of chilly rain, and WRAL meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner said it will stay dry and clear for most of the work week.

"Temperatures for the next couple days won't be quite as warm as Sunday, but it will be nice," said Gardner. Although Monday morning started chilly, temperatures should climb into the 50s by the afternoon.

The rest of the work week will be similarly mild and dry, with highs in the upper 50s most days. Tuesday will be the warmest day of the work week, with a high around 60 degrees in Raleigh. Like Monday, mornings will be cool this week, but the mild, sunny afternoons will be something to look forward to.

While there could be some showers this week, a chance for significant rain won't come again until Friday, said Gardner.

7-Day Forecast

There is a 30 percent chance for rain on Friday, and that chance bumps to 40 percent for Saturday, which will have a high in the low 60s.
