A Family Dollar cashier called police around 6 p.m. to report that a man had robbed her at gunpoint at the store, 553 E. New Hope Road.
She told police the man was black and that he was wearing a camouflage baseball cap and a blue sweatshirt. He pointed a silver and black handgun at her and demanded money, she said.
The man left in a dark colored Dodge Stratus and got away with an undetermined amount of money, she said.
An officer spotted a vehicle and driver matching the cashier’s description. Officers arrested Bennie Barnes Musgrave II, 30, after finding evidence of the crime on him and in his vehicle, police said.
The cashier also identified Musgrave as the one who robbed her, police said.
Police took Musgrave to the Wayne County Jail and placed him under a $50,000 secured bond for robbery with a dangerous weapon.
