Goldsboro man charged in shooting

Goldsboro, N.C. — Goldsboro police arrested a man Tuesday in connection with a shooting in the 100 block of North Slocumb Street.
Officers charged Demetrel Rashawn Best, of 1904 N. William St., Lot 29, with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.
Best is accused of shooting Demetrius Royall, of Goldsboro. After he was shot, Royall drove to the KFC restaurant at 700 E. Ash St.
From there, emergency crews took him to Wayne Memorial Hospital, where he was treated for two gunshot wounds. His condition was unknown Wednesday morning.
Police held Best in the Wayne County Jail under a $100,000 secured bond and scheduled his first court appearance for Wednesday.
