RALEIGH, N.C. — A 28-year-old man has been accused of having sex with a girl half his age, according to an arrest warrant filed by Raleigh police.

Gabriel Germaal Smith, of 132 Hare Road in Goldsboro, faces one count of statutory rape of a person who is 13, 14 or 15 years old.

The warrant states that the alleged sexual contact took place in September in Raleigh. The alleged victim was a 14-year-old girl.

Smith was arrested Thursday and placed in the Wake County jail under a $300,000 secured bond. If he meets bond, he is ordered to have no contact with the victim.

He was scheduled to appear in court Monday.

State Department of Correction records show that Smith was convicted in 2002 of accessory after the fact to a felony and two counts each of felony larceny and breaking-and-entering vehicles.
