Glenwood Avenue reopens near Crabtree Valley Mall

Raleigh, N.C. — Crews reopened Glenwood Avenue to traffic on Friday evening after days of repairs following a water main break.
The main, which officials said dates to the 1940s or 1950s, ruptured Monday morning, causing several inches of water to pool in the eastbound lanes.
Although crews quickly drained the water off the road and repaired the water main, city officials said it would take a few days to repave Glenwood Avenue. That estimate then stretched into the weekend, after crews working on the road also ruptured a gas line.
But the project was finished ahead of that schedule.
Crabtree Valley Mall and surrounding businesses remained open throughout the repair work.
