RALEIGH, N.C. — If Friday's warm temperatures made you pack up your winter coat, you might want to rethink your wardrobe.

The mercury will rise into the mid-70s again on Friday but plummet into the 40s on Saturday as wind patterns shift to bring air in from the Northeast. The cooler air will also bring damp weather.

"We begin to see the showers (on Saturday) creeping in closer to the viewing area around lunchtime," said WRAL meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner. "We'll see scattered rain on and off through the afternoon."

The rain will linger through the afternoon and into the evening but abate on Sunday when the sun comes back and temperatures rebound to 60 degrees.

Rain comes Friday afternoon

A front will move through central North Carolina on Friday afternoon, which could bring some light rain to the area, Gardner said. So, bring your umbrella.

"About the time that you're headed home (from work), you're going to wish that you had it," Gardner said.
